Rooted in Community: The Baobab Tree

Like the baobab tree, our roots intertwine with the lives of families, drawing strength from our shared experiences. We extend our branches of support, recognizing the unique joys and struggles that shape our community.

Together, we nurture responsibility and awareness, creating moments of celebration and connection that bring us closer together.

Ways We Help

Line 3

Back To School Safety

Every year we host our Back to School Safety Event for families to learn safety practices. We have food, fun, and vendors ready to educate us on general safety, tracking devices, home alarm systems, bed safety, and home safety. We invite the police who provide monitoring devices for free and provide solutions for loved ones who may elope. These events foster community and help us learn about resources to keep our families safe.

Police Initiative

We are dedicated to creating a safer community by facilitating quarterly meetings between BIPOC autism families and the police force in non-critical settings. These intimate discussions benefit families by addressing their concerns, and provide valuable insights to officers.

Transportation Survey

As a community of families with children with diverse needs, we all understand the transportation challenges, especially when transitioning out of daycare. Completing this brief survey will help us secure funding to establish safe, non-emergency transportation services tailored to our community.

"The GAPS Society hosted an amazing Juneteenth event on 22-June-24. Families like us had the opportunity to learn about different resources that support the Autism community. The kids had so much fun with bouncy houses, games, and face painting. We also enjoyed food and sweets. The event was great for connecting with other families and vendors. We are looking forward to future events."
